Skies are gray here today with snow still on the ground. But if I close my eyes I fast forward to my first Springtime here in our new home… blue skies, woods and hills all around. The deer will come close to welcome their new neighbors. 🐾💖
Thank you.. 😊 I‘ll take a basket of warm chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies..with chopped walnuts…nestled in a red checkered tea towel. as it floats to my lap, I noticed a lavender envelope with my name. I remove an inelegantly , lopsided message, on rainbow cardstock, mixing CaPiTal and lOwER caS e LeTTeRs, “ everything is going to be alright “ 💛🧡🤎💚💙🩷❤️🩵💛❤️🩷
Hey Jill, I just wrote you but when I tried to correct a typo it disappeared into god knows where in Substack land. Or maybe it will show up here but will make little sense as I wrote about your gift of a pizza slice delivered by “gloating” balloons rather than floating balloons, which was the typo I was trying to correct when it disappeared! … but continuing on, I was about to ask if you know Maira Kalman’s book, “The Principles of Uncertainty.” I was in a bookstore many years ago when I discovered it, and I absolutely had to get it. There was something about her humor in that book plus also the way she illustrates her humor, that reminds me of you. Your work is totally different from hers, but the spirit and intelligence of it is quite related. As I read your piece today, she came to mind bc of the way you spoke about living inside your drawings – paintings, rather than living in the world and the way you described the miriad of feelings you were going through which touched me deeply and also made me laugh. Carry on, dear one. Such a pleasure to have you here.💜
Yes, I have three books :) Thanks for asking. The Nine Modern Day Muses, The Awe-manac, and The Muse is In: An Owner's Manual to Your Creativity... and I'm working on a fourth one. :)
You are NOT going to believe this, but I was so entranced by your clouds and the technique you used to paint the edges with those sneaky little blurs, that I totally missed seeing the balloons and the pizza. What sensible person with good eyesight do that? Oh wait! My vision is declining rapidly. I'll blame that. No ... I can't lie. Your watercolor magic in this painting really hit me in the sternum. That's why I love watercolors, and your's are always fascinating.

nice!
I’ve been making mozzarella and ricotta with my extra milk. It would make fine toppings for your floating pizza.🎈
Nice. that's so cool that you do that.
I have a Holstein milk cow. I make cheese from what we don’t drink and sell.

Jean.
Thank you for this note. I will look up her book. I’m wanting to put another one together too.
You have a book?!!!— A book I can hold in my hand and turn pages?!!

Oh yes, thank you for the shot of happiness!💜
What a kind person you are.
